Introduction

Looking for an easy way to plant more trees? Look no further than Ecosia!

Ecosia is a German search engine, that donates 80% of their ad revenue to non-profits that support deforestation. As of July 2021, the company claims to have planted more than 130 million trees since its inception.

Why?

Deforestation destroys animal habitats, increases greenhouse gases, stop crops from growing and destroys the homes of indigenous communities. Thankfully, Ecosia use your searches to plant trees where they are needed the most.

For example, only 5000 chimpanzees remain in Uganda, and their habitat is shrinking due to a growing demand for charcoal and firewood. As a result of the profits that they make through their search engine, Ecosia has been planting tree corridors in Uganda to allow chimps to move safely through forests. They’re also growing bamboo to provide local communities with a sustainable alternative to charcoal and firewood.

How?

When you search the web using the Ecosia search engine, AdSearch ads generate income for Ecosia. Ecosia then use this income to plant trees all over the world.
